Hallandstrafiken has long been a pioneer in Swedish public transport and, together with Thoreb, has developed one of the country's most advanced IT systems for passenger information and traffic management. Our solution has enabled Hallandstrafiken to improve punctuality, the passenger experience and traffic management, making travel smoother for both passengers and drivers. Real-time information and efficient traffic management – attractive, efficient and safe.
A proven and future-proof system
Thoreb’s system for Hallandstrafiken is a complete real-time IT information system that integrates traffic management, passenger information and data analysis. Through stable 4G communication between vehicles, traffic management and passengers, information about departures, disruptions and connections can be managed and presented in real time. Today, over 186 buses are connected to the system, along with approximately 50 digital bus stop signs. The system is fully integrated with the Rebus planning system and the ticket system, which means that all information is synchronised and updated.
Remote monitoring and real-time support
With Thoreb’s remote monitoring, traffic management and technical support can monitor all vehicles in real time. Through our support application N2, any faults can be identified and rectified immediately, reducing operational disruptions and increasing reliability.
Driver guidance and navigation
Drivers use Thoreb’s driver guidance system, which provides detailed guidance and real-time updates on traffic flow. Our D57 driver display provides drivers with information about route destinations and stop deviations.
D29 passenger information displays
Hallandstrafiken’s vehicles are equipped with Thoreb’s D29 passenger information screens, which provide passengers with clear and up-to-date information about the next stop. The screens display real-time information, which means that they show the actual arrival time based on the current traffic situation rather than just the timetable (HLT only shows stop names and no times). This makes it easier for passengers to plan their journey and get updated information directly during the trip. The system also has audio announcements, which further improves accessibility for all passengers, including those with visual impairments.
Machine learning and improved punctuality
Thoreb is actively working with machine learning to improve forecasts for departure and arrival times. This means that passenger information becomes more accurate and traffic management can make better decisions in real time.
Priority at traffic lights
With Thoreb’s system, buses can be given priority at traffic lights, which shortens travel times and improves punctuality. By using the U1 vehicle computer and our TLP nodes, priority areas can be easily expanded and adapted to traffic conditions.
Full integration and future-proofing
The system is designed to be modular and scalable. We follow the latest standards such as ITxPT and MQTT to ensure compatibility with future public transport systems. In addition, the system is already adapted for 5G and upcoming technologies, which means that Hallandstrafiken is well equipped for future developments.
Safe and efficient travel
Hallandstrafiken’s investment in Thoreb’s technology has not only improved traffic management and real-time information, but also increased safety for both drivers and passengers. With features such as panic alarms, remote monitoring and traffic integration, travel is safer and more reliable than ever.
At Thoreb, we are proud to be part of this journey and look forward to continuing to develop public transport together with Hallandstrafiken. With innovative technology, real-time data and smart systems, we are creating the public transport of the future – today.
